Corrected in checking:
- October 21, 2026: an earlier version gave the weekend lunch hours as 12pm to 3pm, from the restaurant's website on October 14; the website now says 12pm to 2:30pm.
- November 7, 2026: an earlier version quoted the restaurant's website as calling it 'a 10 seat' restaurant and said the site gave the '10 seat' figure; the website now says '18-seat', the same total as Orlando Weekly's 10-seat counter and eight-seat dining room. Its 'mom & pop' wording now reads 'mom-and-pop'.
- November 8, 2026: the status line read 'Opened Oct 22, 2026' and the headline said it soft-opens that day, but no report says it did. The status line now reads 'Open by Nov 3, 2026', the date of Orlando Weekly's report that it had soft opened.
What changed
Udon Fifty, a Japanese udon restaurant, planned to soft-open on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, at 1222 E. Colonial Dr. Its website read "Soft Opening starts Oct. 22, 2026". Orlando Weekly reported "Look for Udon Fifty to soft open Thursday, Oct. 22."
Re-checked October 23: the website still reads "Soft Opening starts Oct. 22, 2026", shows no notice of a delay and does not say the restaurant is open. I found no news report, in Orlando Weekly, Hoodline or one web search, that the soft opening took place.
Re-checked October 26: the website no longer carries the line "Soft Opening starts Oct. 22, 2026". It now lists "Soft Opening Hours" and says "We are closed on Thursday Oct 29 for a private event." Florida's licence file, fetched October 26, still lists Udon Fifty at 1222 E Colonial Dr Ste B under licence SEA5816665, status 20/20, expiring April 1, 2027. I found no news report, in Orlando Weekly, Hoodline or one web search on October 26, that the soft opening took place, and the website does not say it is open. The status is now in effect because the restaurant's own site has dropped its start-date line and the state record shows an active licence at the address.
Re-checked November 7: the website's banner reads "CURRENTLY IN SOFT OPENING | STAY TUNED FOR GRAND OPENING DETAILS", and it still lists "Soft Opening Hours".
What changed

- Whose it is: Hoodline calls it "the noodle concept from Domu chef Sonny Nguyen".
- What kind: the restaurant describes itself as "a 18-seat chef-driven Japanese udon restaurant". It says it aims "to recreate memorable moments of sitting in a Tokyo mom-and-pop restaurant in every bowl".
- The room: Orlando Weekly reports "a 10-seat counter and an eight-seat dining room". The restaurant's own site now gives 18 seats, the same total.
When
- Soft opening: scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, now past.
- Open by: Nov. 3, 2026, the date of Orlando Weekly's list saying it "is finally soft opened". On Nov. 7 the website's banner read "CURRENTLY IN SOFT OPENING".
- Hours, per the restaurant's site: Thursday and Friday, "4pm - 9pm"; Saturday and Sunday, "12pm - 2:30pm // 4pm - 9pm". Orlando Weekly's October 6 report gave the weekend lunch as "noon to 3 p.m."; the restaurant's site, when re-read, says 2:30pm.
- Closed days: Orlando Weekly reports it will be "closed Monday through Wednesday".
- Grand opening: Orlando Weekly gives no date yet, and tells readers "For additional info and a grand opening date, be sure to follow" the restaurant.
