Corrected in checking:

  • October 28, 2026: the status line read 'In effect' after the one-day event of Oct. 21 had passed; it now reads that the event was held Oct. 21 and has ended. The event page's words are now given in the past tense, because the page no longer carries the event.

What changed

BeforeRegular admission to The Orlando Eye.
NowFree rides from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2026 for guests in witch costumes, first come, first served, during a world-record attempt; ABC reported on Oct. 24 that 184 people set a world record on the Eye.

The Orlando Eye's event page said: "Come dressed as a witch and join us as we attempt to establish a world record for the most people dressed as witches riding an observation wheel at one time." The attempt was scheduled for Oct. 21, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at The Orlando Eye at ICON Park.

Re-checked October 28: ABC News's Good Morning America posted a video on Oct. 24, 2026 under the headline "Halloween witches’ world record" with this description: "A total of 184 people set a world record, decked out in pointed hats and witches’ cloaks, 400 feet up on the Orlando Eye." That page gives no date for the attempt and does not say whether the rides were free; it does not name who certified the record, and I found no Guinness World Records page for it. The Eye's own event page still answers with a redirect to its general page. ABC's page still carries the same description.

What changed

  • Free rides for one hour, in costume. The Eye said: "Guests dressed in witch costumes can ride The Orlando Eye FREE during the event window while helping us make history." Its blog said the same: "Guests wearing qualifying witch costumes can ride Orlando Eye free during the event window, with participation available on a first-come, first-served basis."
  • Costume rules. "Costumes may not include full-face masks or weapon-like props and must be appropriate for guests of all ages."

When

  • Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. ClickOrlando reports it the same way: "On Wednesday, the ICON Park observation wheel is planning a world-record attempt for the most people dressed as witches from 6 to 7 p.m."
  • The line closes on the hour. "Participation is first come, first served. Space is limited, and the queue will close at 7:00 p.m."

Where

  • The Orlando Eye at ICON Park.

What it means if you live here

  • The window has passed. The Eye said rides would be free only during that hour, and only for guests in witch costumes.
  • Registering does not hold a spot. The Eye's terms say: "Registration does not guarantee participation. Access is subject to capacity and operational conditions."
  • It was weather and operations permitting. The Eye's terms said: "The event is weather and operations permitting." ABC reports that a record was set.
