Key Food Supermarket in Ocoee had set its grand opening for Friday, Oct. 23; by Oct. 26 the store's own page listed hours and a weekly circular valid from Oct. 23

A Key Food Supermarket at Ocoee Plaza, 23 W. Silver Star Road, Ocoee, had a grand-opening ceremony scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026. The West Orange Times & Observer reported on Oct. 21 that "Key Food Supermarket is scheduled to host its grand-opening ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at 23 W. Silver Star Road, Ocoee." No report of the ceremony, or of the store's opening day, has been found. A saved copy of Key Food's own page for the store, read Oct. 26, lists regular hours and a weekly circular valid Oct. 23 to Oct. 29, so this post treats the store as open by Oct. 26. The same page, read Nov. 4, still lists the hours and a circular valid Oct. 30 to Nov. 5.

What changed

• A new grocery store. The Observer: "The $450,000, 27,000-square-foot supermarket will provide residents with seafood and meats, bakery items, hot food, produce and more." The $450,000 is the construction value: the paper's November 2025 article says "construction was valued at $450,000."
• Open by Oct. 26. Key Food's page for this store, read Oct. 26, lists the store's hours as "7:00 AM - 10:00 PM" and, under Circular, "Key Food Weekly Circular Valid Oct 23 - Oct 29". That is the operator's own page for this store, read after the Oct. 23 ceremony day. The circular's Oct. 23 start matches the announced opening day, but a circular's start is the chain's plan, not proof that the doors opened that day. It does not say that the ceremony was held or that the store opened on Oct. 23.
• Before the ceremony the circular was only a preview. The copy of the page read in the early hours of Oct. 23 lists "Circular Key Food 10/23 - 10/29 Preview Valid Oct 22 - Oct 23".
• Still listed on Nov. 4. Key Food's page for this store, read Nov. 4, lists "7:00 AM - 10:00 PM" and "Key Food Weekly Circular Valid Oct 30 - Nov 5".
• Already on Key Food's store list. The store locator of Key Food Stores Co-Operative, Inc. listed the Ocoee store at 23 West Silver Star Road, with hours of "7:00 AM - 10:00 PM", when it was read on Oct. 23.
• Who runs it. Key Food is a co-operative's name. Six Central Florida stores under it are run by one family, whose site lists stores in Apopka, Clermont, Mount Dora, Ocala and two in Orlando, and none in Ocoee. No source we read says who operates the Ocoee store.

When

• Open by Oct. 26, 2026. That is the date of the earliest saved copy of the store's page that lists a weekly circular as valid. Oct. 26 is the day that copy was read; the circular's own dates are Oct. 23 to Oct. 29.
• Grand opening: 2:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, 2026 (scheduled). As of Nov. 4, no report that the ceremony was held has been found.
• About ten months later than first reported. On Nov. 24, 2025, the Observer wrote: "The supermarket is said to open in Ocoee by the end of December at Ocoee Plaza, 100 W. Silver Star Road, Ocoee." No source we read from the store or the city gives a reason for the delay.
