Bealls Florida at 3385 Daniels Road in Winter Garden will close; an employee told the Observer mid-January

The Bealls Florida store at 3385 Daniels Road, Building H, in Winter Garden will close. The West Orange Times & Observer reported on Nov. 3 that the store "soon will permanently close its doors." An employee told the Observer that means mid-January.

What changed

• The store is closing. The photo with the Observer's story shows a "STORE CLOSING" banner above the entrance, directly over the number 3385. Posters on the doors read: "THIS BEALLS FLORIDA STORE LOCATION IS CLOSING..."
• Which Bealls. The Observer calls it Bealls. The posters and the company's store page call it Bealls Florida, store #27. It is a different format from the stores now named bealls: Chain Store Age reported in 2023 that the company's department stores would become Bealls Florida and its Bealls Outlet and Burkes Outlet stores would merge under the new bealls name.

When

• The day rests on one employee. The Observer wrote: "According to an employee at Bealls, the store located 3385 Daniels Road, Building H, Winter Garden, will close mid January." Its subhead says the store "will close its doors in January."
• No date on the signs. The posters in the photo show no closing date, and we found no date from Bealls.
• Until then. The Observer says the store stays open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays until it closes. Bealls Florida's store page lists the same hours.

Where

3385 Daniels Road, Building H, Winter Garden. The Observer places it at Winter Garden Village. The company's store page calls the center Village of Fowler Grove.

What it means if you live here

• Where the signs send you. The posters point shoppers to Piedmont Plaza, 2302 E. Semoran Blvd in Apopka, and South Lake Plaza, 612 E Highway 50 in Clermont. The Observer names the same two plazas: "The nearest Bealls to Winter Garden now are the ones located at the South Lake Plaza in Clermont and the Piedmont Plaza in Apopka." The company's own pages list Apopka as a Bealls Florida and Clermont as a bealls.
• There may be a closer one. Bealls.com also lists a bealls store, #627, at 3389 Daniels Road, Winter Garden, about 0.4 mile from this one by the two pages' coordinates. We could not confirm that store is open: the listing's phone number has a 707 area code, and its description talks about Home Centric. Check before you drive there.
• Ocoee. The Observer says: "Earlier this year, the Bealls located in Ocoee also closed its doors." It had given that store's last day as Saturday, April 25.
• If you need a firm date, or have a gift card or a return. The store page lists the phone number as (407) 656-0364. We did not call the store, and we did not check for a closing sale or for any gift-card or returns policy.
