Verdict: PENDING, AT RISK (2026 is not over, but SeaWorld no longer names 2026, and United Parks now lists the ride among its 2027 attractions). In September 2025, SeaWorld Orlando's page for its new ride said: "Opening in 2026, SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep takes families on an awe-inspiring voyage" [C1]. 2026 has 54 days left at this entry's last check, and the ride has not opened: the same page now says "Coming Soon" where it said "Opening in 2026" [C7, C7b]. The wording changed between the Internet Archive's copies of mid-February and mid-March 2026 [C4, C5]. United Parks & Resorts, which owns SeaWorld, last listed the ride among "new rides and attractions expected to open in 2026" in its 10-K of March 3, 2026, which its April 30 annual report reprints [C12, C12b, C12c, C13]. On May 11, 2026, its first-quarter release lists the year's new rides and names a different SeaWorld Orlando ride, not SEAQuest [C14, C14c]. On November 5, 2026, its third-quarter release lists SEAQuest again, this time among its "upcoming new rides, attractions, events and upgrades for 2027" [C16, C16b].
Last checked: November 7, 2026.
Re-checked November 7, 2026. One record moved and the ride page did not.
- United Parks, November 5, 2026. Its third-quarter release opens a list with "upcoming new rides, attractions, events and upgrades for 2027" and puts SEAQuest first on it [C16, C16b].
- The ride page. It still says "Coming Soon" in both places and still sells first-to-ride access with "a 2026 Annual Pass" [C18]. The park's menu still lists "Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice Now Open!" [C18b].
- What is still missing. The release gives the ride no date [C16b]. The ride page gives no opening year [C18].
- The quarterly report for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 does not name the ride [C17].
-
The verdict category is unchanged. 2026 is not over, and no record read gives an opening date or says the ride will miss 2026. What changed is the reason: the owner's own list for the next year now includes the ride.
-
The promise. "Opening in 2026", on SeaWorld Orlando's own page for the ride [C1].
- Not open yet. The page says "Coming Soon" [C7]. The park's "New At The Park" menu lists "Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice Now Open!" and no SEAQuest item [C7d].
- The page stopped naming the year. "Opening in 2026" is in every Internet Archive copy from September 2025 to mid-February 2026, and "Coming Soon" in every copy from mid-March 2026 on [C1, C4, C5, C6].
- The owner's filings named 2026 until March 3. United Parks' 10-K of March 3, 2026 lists SEAQuest as "expected to open in 2026"; its April 30 annual report reprints that 10-K [C12, C12b, C12c, C13]. The May 11 and August 4, 2026 releases do not name it [C14, C15].
- The 2026 pass is still the way in. The page still says "The only way to guarantee first-to-ride access is with a 2026 Annual Pass" [C7c].
The promise
The Internet Archive's first copy of SeaWorld Orlando's page for the ride, from September 2025, says [C1, C1b]:
"Opening in 2026, SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep takes families on an awe-inspiring voyage" … "Annual Pass Members will be among the very first to ride when this bold new attraction surfaces in 2026."
The same page sold the ride with a pass: "The only way to guarantee first-to-ride access is with a 2026 Annual Pass" [C1c].
- What it is. SeaWorld's blog of December 17, 2025 says "SeaWorld and ride manufacturer Vekoma Rides unveiled the stunning ride vehicle", and "Launching in a newly expanded area of SeaWorld Orlando" [C8, C8c, C8d].
- The deadline. This entry reads "Opening in 2026" as by the end of 2026, the latest the words allow [C1].
- Dates of the page's wording. The ride page carries no date of its own. This entry dates its wording by the Internet Archive's copies, to the month; the archive's exact capture times are in the trace.
Timeline
- September 2025. The Internet Archive's first copy of the ride page: "Opening in 2026", and pass members first to ride "when this bold new attraction surfaces in 2026" [C1, C1b].
- October 2025. An October 2025 copy still says "Opening in 2026" [C2].
- November 6, 2025. United Parks' third-quarter release: "The Company has announced several of its upcoming new rides, attractions, events and upgrades for 2026." It names "its new attraction: SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep" with no month; the San Diego item in the same list gives "spring 2026" [C10, C10b, C10c].
- Later in November 2025. The archive's copy shows the page rewritten. The "surfaces in 2026" sentence is gone, and a new line says "Opening in 2026 within a newly expanded area of the park" [C3].
- December 17, 2025. SeaWorld's blog: "SeaWorld Orlando is creating a thrilling new course for 2026 with SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep." [C8, C8b]
- Mid-February 2026. The last Internet Archive copy that says "Opening in 2026" [C4, C4b].
- February 26, 2026. United Parks' fourth-quarter release: "For 2026, the Company has an outstanding line-up of new rides and attractions", among them "SeaWorld Orlando: SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep", again with no month [C11, C11b].
- March 3, 2026. United Parks' annual 10-K filing: "This includes the following new rides and attractions expected to open in 2026:", with "SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep (SeaWorld Orlando)" first on the list [C12, C12b].
- Mid-March 2026. The Internet Archive's next copy of the page: "Coming Soon, SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep takes families on an awe-inspiring voyage", and "Coming Soon within a newly expanded area of the park" [C5, C5b].
- April 30, 2026. United Parks' annual report reprints the March 3 10-K, list included [C13, C13b]. Its shareholder letter, dated April 30, says "Our 2026 roadmap is defined by a compelling lineup of new rides, attractions, and events" and does not name the ride [C13c].
- May 11, 2026. United Parks' first-quarter release lists "The Company's new rides and attractions" for 2026 [C14]. It reports one opening: "SeaWorld San Antonio opened Barracuda Strike, Texas' First Inverted Family Coaster in March." [C14b] For SeaWorld Orlando it says "SeaWorld Orlando will soon open a completely revamped and upgraded Expedition Odyssey" [C14c]. SEAQuest is not on the list.
- July 2026. The archive's copy still says "Coming Soon" [C6].
- August 4, 2026. United Parks' second-quarter release names SeaWorld Orlando for an event, "Red, White & BBQ at SeaWorld Orlando", and has no list of new rides [C15].
- November 5, 2026. United Parks' third-quarter release: "The Company has announced several of its upcoming new rides, attractions, events and upgrades for 2027." It lists SEAQuest first [C16, C16b].
- At the first check. The page says "Coming Soon" in both places [C7, C7b]. The park's menu lists "Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice Now Open!" [C7d].
What changed, and why, in the record's own words
- On the ride page: "Opening in 2026" became "Coming Soon" between the archive's mid-February and mid-March 2026 copies [C4, C5].
- In United Parks' filings: the ride was among the 2026 openings in November 2025, February 2026 and March 2026 (the 10-K, reprinted in the April 30 annual report) [C10, C11, C12, C13]. The May 11, 2026 release lists the year's new rides without it, and the August 4, 2026 release names it nowhere [C14, C15]. The November 5, 2026 release lists it again, among attractions announced for 2027 [C16, C16b].
- Why. No SeaWorld or United Parks record read gives a reason for the change.
What it cost
- No figure. No United Parks filing read gives SEAQuest's cost.
What is still open
- The year. 2026 ends on December 31; this entry's last check left 54 days [C1].
- The pass. First-to-ride access is still sold with "a 2026 Annual Pass" [C7c].
- The next report. United Parks' fourth-quarter 2026 release, which comes after this check.
What this entry did not check
- Orange County building permits for the park, which could show the construction stage. The county's permit search did not return results.
- South Florida Water Management District permits.
- United Parks' earnings calls, where executives may have spoken about the ride's timing.
- News reports. They were used only to find records. A WFTV report of April 10, 2026 on a SeaWorld Orlando attraction's "major redesign" does not name the attraction in its text, so it is not used.
