The St. Johns River Water Management District invited the public to its Central Recreation Public Meeting "on Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the District’s Apopka Service Center, Econ Conference Room, located at 2501 S. Binion Road, Apopka."

Re-checked November 3, 14 days after the date: no record that the meeting was held. The district's newsroom list ends, at its newest item, with its Oct. 22 notice for the Southern meeting. The release on this meeting is unchanged and still dated October 13. The district's Meetings and announcements page and its Recreation announcements page do not mention this meeting. A web search found no report or summary of it. This post cannot say the meeting took place. The release also carried no update at the earlier re-check.

What it means if you live here

  • If you use the district's land around Orange, Lake or Seminole counties, the meeting was the chance to raise recreation questions in person; the release also gave an email address for comments.
  • Which properties: neither district page read lists the 18 properties by name.
  • A trail notice on the same land: the district's recreation announcements, posted Sept. 8, 2026, say "A portion of the Lake Apopka Loop Trail will be closed between Conrad Road and Laughlin Road," with work Monday through Thursday, and "The project will take up to two months to complete." The notice says the work "will not affect the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive."
